Microsoft came to Germany, in Cologne, to participate to Gamescom, an important trade fair for digital games in Europe. During the event that will end today, the owners of Flight Simulator franchise announced more details and content for their upcoming 40th Anniversary Edition.
Now we know that the 40th Anniversary Edition of Microsoft Flight Simulator will be released on November 11th this year 2022, and they confirmed again it will be free to all registered users of MSFS, and to others who have an active subscription to Xbox Game Pass.
In its content, there will be the following additions :
- 12 new aircraft, which will include the Curtiss JN-4 Jenny and Grumman G-21 Goose – developed by iniBuilds), and also an Hughes H-4 Hercules (aka the “Spruce Goose”). The advanced and realistic A310 by iniBuilds is still in the plan of course.
- 12 heliports,
- 12 glider airports,
- 6 classic commercial airports, including Chicago’s Meigs Field, the long-time default starting location in many previous editions of Microsoft Flight Simulator
- 20 historic franchise missions,
That’s not all. Already available from MSFS itself, you can also find the free addon City Update 1 (CU1) : a collection of five new photogrammetry cities from Germany: Hanover, Dortmund, Dusseldorf, Bonn, and Cologne.
