Although actually nowhere near Frankfurt (it’s over 100 kilometres away!), Hahn is counted as the city’s second airport and, unlike Frankfurt airport itself (Frankfurt am Main), Hahn is primarily used by low cost, rather than major national, carriers.
The history of Frankfurt Hahn, is however, very similar to that of Frankfurt am Main. Built after World War II by the occupying Allies, apparently the US forces had difficulty saying “Lautzenhausen”, which is actually the closest village, so the name of the town the airport was originally intended to be built near, Hahn, was retained.
Although now no longer used, Hahn’s military side is recreated as one of the features of this FSX only scenery, a full list of which – along with purchase information – can be found on the product page.
