Headwind Simulations is preparing a significant cockpit update (Phase 1) for their freeware Airbus A330-900neo (A339X) add-on for Microsoft Flight Simulator. This popular freeware add-on brings the modern A330-900neo to virtual pilots, offering an authentic simulation experience. Headwind Simulations has developed a standalone installer, a customized fork of the FlyByWire Installer, to manage their add-ons efficiently. While they hope to integrate their products into the FlyByWire Installer in the future, their temporary solution ensures users have access to their offerings.
In addition to the A339X, Headwind Simulations is working on an Airbus A330-300ceo (A333X) add-on for MSFS. The A330-300, a medium- to long-range wide-body aircraft introduced in the early 1990s, is known for its spacious cabin, extended range, and versatile engine options. The A333X aims to recreate these features, capturing the aircraft’s ability to accommodate between 277 and 440 passengers with excellent comfort, while offering realistic performance for intercontinental routes.
Another model of interest is the Airbus A330-800neo, a fuel-efficient successor to the A330-200. Powered by Rolls-Royce Trent 7000 engines and equipped with aerodynamic enhancements like sharklets, the A330-800 combines long-range capability (up to 8,150 nautical miles) with a reduced environmental footprint. Its modern avionics and passenger amenities ensure it meets the needs of both pilots and travelers. Together, these projects highlight Headwind Simulations’ commitment to enhancing the MSFS experience with high-quality, innovative and freeware aircraft add-ons.
