The FlightXpress is the largest German language flightsim magazine. Not the FS Magazin!
and how can you be so sure, theo? please enlight us!
Besides, FXpress is Luxemburgian…. ๐
FlightXPress is european ๐
founded in austria in the year 1999 and now with the mainoffice in luxembourg and a service center in Germany. The sales are 75% in Germany, the rest in Switzerland and Austria.
But it’s true, FlightXPress is since 11 years the leading german flight sim magazine and monthly.
Congratulations to the FS Magazine, for the nice Februar Edition.
anyone loves to be ‘leader & bigger’! and anyone can write it… but can anyone prove it?
as indication you just need to take a look to the message boards or website statistics from both magazines.
Also a prove is possible, you just need to ask the kiosks.
But you can also publish you own survey about, so you can see your own statistic.
Not only the sale statistics are a token of confidence, also the art of writing reviews and to be independent. That’s a big difference between the magazines.
LOL… battle it out ‘Freunde’…. fact is, most people read English, so….
no need to battle… ‘LOL’ is the only thing that comes to mind… everyone believes what he/she wants to believe, nothing wrong with that.
Oh c’mon…the FSMagazin sells only 6 issues p.a. Don’t you think they would switch to a monthly appearance – like the FXP – if they could afford it? Just take a look into the FSMagazin/Simflight.de forum…it’s almost dead!
Hello all!
To me it is not a vital fact to be the “big leader” in our small business – much better is the struggle for beeing good – better if possible by lerning and sometimes losing as everywhere in life – and approved.
And I don’t worry seeing our forum beeing not used that much as (not only I) would love it because of some reasons if you allow some open words:
1. There is an incredible amount of fs-related websites out here and no one can read/write/use all of them simulanteously. Beiing par tof a aparticualr forum is a kind of tradition and force of habit. In other words: If someone has found a forum which is feasible for ihm/her he/her will stay until proven otherwise. I’ve no problem with that. Or should I really?
2. My authors and I are lucky because not every single issue of the FS MAGAZIN has to be discussed or critizised in the forum because of open questions not answered by the articles, not given informations, mistakes and misunderstandings.
Concerning the monthly publications we’d audited this repeatedly and are still doing. Our last decision was not to do that because of Microsofts declining of the FS-series. And in my opinion this was a wise decision. Until there will be another/new simulator. Then it will be time to riffle the cards new. At the moment because of several reasons I don’t think that we could make enough money with 12 issues – to be understood correct: Talking about money is NOT earing money.
Makeing papers like the FS MAGAZIN is very, very expensive and has to have a vital return of money. As long as the experience teaches that most people are more restricted in giving money for papers (in common) as for expensive hardware or cigarettes for example we have to be very carefull here. And employing additional manpower needed for a monthly issuing – in Germany – is a very hot hell of costs. You must at minimum earn the double (!) of the costs to be able to pay an employee. That is a hard thing, I can tell you.
To me it’s a fact that there is very a limited business possible especially for fs-newspapers. Franocios is right but… Not to even think about to publish in english language additionally for this market is very prominent casted and supplied. I’m pretty sure that it will be a (senseless) war against windmills…
Sorry, I missed this:
All the best!

FS MAGAZIN
I fully agree with Francois, no body need to battle or to fight. The fs scene is too small and in this difficult situation about the future of a new sim, we need to stay together to save the market.
Bert is right with that what he says about the money to publish a magazine. The cost are very expensive, germany is one of the european countries with the highest taxes on wages.
Also the VAT is high. For example in France, a magazine pays only 2,9% VAT, in Germany 7%.
The international market has two good bimonthly publications, the PC Pilot and Computer Pilot. There isnt a realistic market for a third one. And the other question will be, if in a few years the costumers will stay with printed magazines or if he will switch to free online offers.
The challenge for all printed flightsim magazines, is to publish a good mix between FS 9 and FS X Reviews and Informations. That is in the 11 years of FlightXPress, a new situation that we need to write about 2 Microsoft Simulators. The market about publications changed in the last 11 years and will change again from here to 2015.
It is not significant which magazine has the best sales statistics. More important is the quality of each publications. The FS Magazine and FlightXPress has different styles to write about products and to do the reviews, so we arent in a direct competition.
