Black Square has big plans for Microsoft Flight Simulator, starting with a new “Professional” series featuring enhanced versions of their popular Steam Gauge Overhaul aircraft. The first in line is the Caravan Professional, which significantly upgrades the Analog Caravan. It includes four distinct variants: a Grand Caravan with both cargo and passenger configurations, an Amphibian model, and a Super Cargomaster version. This series boasts higher-quality exterior models, improved textures, and a more immersive sound experience. Additionally, current Analog Caravan owners will get discount codes for these new titles.
The Caravan Professional incorporates advanced features inspired by Black Square’s TBM 850 and Turbine Duke, such as custom turbine engine simulation, propeller physics, voltage-based lighting, and advanced environmental simulation. It also introduces a tablet interface for easy configuration, with 100+ failures and real-time system visualizers. Avionics options have expanded, allowing users to choose from a range of vintage and modern equipment, with up to 12 hot-swappable configurations. The manual has been expanded to include new screenshots, feature descriptions, and home cockpit inputs/outputs.
Alongside the Caravan Professional, Black Square is working on the Commander 114 and upcoming Bonanza and Baron Professional. The Commander 114, known for its wide cabin and durable landing gear, will feature Black Square’s reciprocating engine simulation and the same tablet-based interface for system management. This aircraft will also showcase vintage avionics fitting its original production style, as well as some performance enhancements. Following these releases, Black Square’s lineup will continue to expand, ensuring compatibility with MSFS 2024 and elevating the quality of general aviation experiences in the simulator.
