Kufra Airport (HLKF) is a Libyan airport that serves Al Jawf, the capital of the Kufra District. The airport is located in the city’s eastern outskirts. And now thanks to the developer ‘Azrsim’ you can now see a little bit more when landing in this sandbox…. more a less. They have created this scenery for in MSFS2020.
Runway 02R/20L is closed, as are other taxiways. On the field are the Kufra VOR-DME (Ident: KFR) and non-directional beacon (Ident: KFR). Kufra Airport began as Buma Airfield, a small facility established by the Italians in the 1930s. It served as an air route to Italian East Africa during World War II (Ethiopia, Eritrea, and Italian Somaliland). On March 1, 1941, it was taken by Free French forces led by General Leclerc, along with Kufra Oasis.
