FlightSim Studio AG has announced the latest addition to their airliner lineup, the Boeing 727-200 Freighter for Microsoft Flight Simulator. This project, which has been in development for over two years, promises a highly detailed and authentic flying experience, distinct from their other products like the E-Jets. The 727-200F requires manual control of nearly all systems, reflecting the less automated nature of the aircraft. The announcement was made in conjunction with FSExpo, where attendees can find a demo booth featuring this new product.
The Boeing 727-200 Freighter boasts top-notch visual and audio quality, including a fully custom spatial audio environment derived from real recordings. The 3D model and textures have been meticulously crafted for MSFS, ensuring no details are overlooked. The aircraft includes fully custom systems such as electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic, all realistically simulated. Additionally, the flight engineer’s station is fully functional, allowing users to manually control these systems. The front seats feature analog instrumentation typical of the era, with navigation options ranging from a custom-coded INS to modern GPS units.
The 727-200F includes a Sperry SP-150 autopilot, based on the Working Title codebase, and a freighter cabin with interactive elements, including doors and cargo controls. Despite the aircraft’s complexity, FlightSim Studio has included optional user assistance features. These include an EFB-like clipboard for managing payload, door operations, and descent calculations, and a virtual crew to assist with checklists, easing the challenge of flying this older jet.
FlightSim Studio emphasizes that the development of the 727-200F has not impacted other projects, such as the E-Jets. Separate teams have worked on this aircraft, with only some overlap in sound development and 3D artistry. The developers of the Custom FMS and APv2 were not involved, ensuring that those projects remain on schedule. FlightSim Studio is excited to introduce this detailed and challenging addition to their lineup and encourages FSExpo attendees to visit the Aerosoft booth for a demo flight.
