Vertex Design Studio has released a detailed scenery add-on of King Fahd International Airport (OEDF) in Dammam, Saudi Arabia, for Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020 and 2024. King Fahd International Airport (KFIA) is a major transportation hub in the Eastern Province of Saudi Arabia, serving as a vital gateway to the region. Named after King Fahd, KFIA is one of the largest airports in the world by area and plays a central role in regional and international air travel.
The add-on provides a comprehensive and realistic recreation of the airport. It features accurate 3D models of all major structures, high-resolution textures that realistically reproduce details, and dynamic lighting for an immersive experience day and night. Key features include:
- A detailed recreation of the airport based on current aeronautical charts, ensuring an accurate representation of real-world conditions.
- High-quality models of the terminals, the distinctive control tower, and other airport buildings, which are equipped with PBR (Physically Based Rendering) textures to reflect realistic material properties.
- Custom ground textures with detailed markings, wear and tear, and other effects that contribute to the authenticity of the scenery.
- Realistic night lighting that immerses the terminals, taxiways, and runways in a realistic light, enabling realistic night flight operations.
- Functioning jetways and precisely placed ground handling services that mimic real-world operations at the airport.
- A detailed design of the airport’s surroundings with roads, parking lots, and other infrastructure that completes the overall picture.
The MSFS2024 version is scheduled to be released soon and will utilize the latest technologies of the simulator to offer even higher levels of detail and performance.
