SimWorks Studios has provided an update on their GA-8 Airvan project for Microsoft Flight Simulator. The rugged Australian aircraft, known for its versatility in roles like passenger transport, skydiving, medevac, and aerial surveillance, is now feature-complete for MSFS 2020. The development team is currently finalizing manuals, while the avionics team is implementing an in-sim tablet that will provide access to manuals, checklists, and aircraft options. The planned release for MSFS 2020 is in the second half of April, with preview images set to start next week. The MSFS 2024 version will follow a few weeks after the MSFS 2020 release.
For MSFS 2024, SimWorks Studios has successfully integrated the Airvan with the new Career mode, ensuring that the aircraft will be career-ready upon release. However, the team is facing challenges with the failure module, as MSFS 2024 introduces its own failure system. While the custom tablet will allow users to disable the developer’s failure system, they are still exploring ways to disable the default failures in Free Flight mode. If a direct solution isn’t found, users may need to manually adjust settings via the Assistance menu, though this should not impact Career mode functionality.
The team promises more updates in the coming weeks, including new screenshots and additional details. With the MSFS 2020 version nearly ready for release and work progressing on the MSFS 2024 version, SimWorks Studios is committed to delivering a polished and immersive GA-8 Airvan experience across both platforms.
