Airport Overview

The well-known Asian Developer by the name of Thai Creations who is very known to develop
sceneries for the Asian part of the world for previous and older simulators like FS9 and FSX, and
after a long break they have made a surprise release for P3D. After a dry spell between their
previous P3D release of Krabi, they have now revived an older version of their work of Kathmandu
which is now Available exclusively for P3Dv4 and P3Dv5. Kathmandu Tribhuvan the sole
international airport in Nepal and has one domestic terminal and one international with a pretty
long runway capable of handling the big jets is well known for its mountainous topography and a
difficult approach – is a fun and interesting airport to fly in the sim let alone the Real World. Home
to Nepal Airlines and Himalaya Airways, the Kathmandu Airport serves major airports in Asia and
the Middle East offering a connective hub for Nepal to most major international airports in the
region.

Airport Features

The Thai Creations product a simple yet interesting style of representation of the airport with High
detail photo scenery with 60 cm/pixel and decently detailed taxiways and runways, Custom made
lines, taxiway and taxi lights. However key features such as Dynamic Lighting and PBR Textures
which are considered a must in today’s payware quality product are absent from this version of
the release. The developer has stated that he intends to update the product as a Free upgrade to
v.2 future release which will include Night time operations meaning that this current V1 release is
not capable to be operated during the Dark hours of the day.
A major advantage to this product is also that it already includes custom ortho-imagery directly
from the developer which is included in the product download for free and expands to almost
around the entire greater Kathmandu area and has also included a decent surrounding of the
airport vicinity which gives it an utmost realistic feel.

Modelling and Texturing

After carefully examining the terminal and its features, Thai Creations have used a decent quality
texture and have modelled all the major airport buildings. However, the textures seem to be
slightly pixelated on high-end system.
Without a doubt, such airports are missing the world of P3D, the GSE of the airport is vast and well
detailed and the terminal and building textures are of good quality. the modelling is of top quality,
although all the airport consists of remote aprons with no Jetways, the real-world Kathmandu

Airport gives this interesting vibe which makes it such a challenging and fun approach to fly into
especially that the mountain surrounding area and precision approach it offers making it quite
similar to being at the real airfield.

Final Feedback

In conclusion, this Kathmandu has been on my wish list for a couple of years and to be honest, Thai
Creation’s release was a surprise and for Anyone who is looking to fly into Kathmandu Airport in
P3D. I would highly recommend the Thai Creation’s version simple because it fills an necessary
market void and having what they’ve included in this versions release shows that it was a well
worked scenery, however, I am even more excited to see what V.2 will bring and I simple hope that
features such as PBR, custom runway lighting system and Dynamic Lighting will be introduced and
utilized to such an underrated airport in such an interesting part of the world.
I am looking forward to their next release and hoping for a revival of the older scenery catalogue
they have released! This indeed is a Job well done to Thai Creations team for such as nice surprise!
