SIMNORD has released a substantial update for their Aalborg Airport (EKYT) scenery for Microsoft Flight Simulator. The new version 1.6.0 brings numerous improvements and adjustments, particularly for compatibility with the recently released Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024.

Key improvements include the integration of Level-of-Detail (LOD) optimizations for the terminal building and tower to meet the demands of Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024. These LODs ensure smoother performance, especially at greater distances. Arrival signs at the gate buildings improve ground navigation, and textures for the apron and taxiways have been updated for a more realistic appearance.

The update also addresses several issues from the previous version. Errors in the transparency and reflections of the terminal’s glass surfaces have been corrected, and the problem with snow inside the terminal during snowy weather has been resolved. Redundant aprons and ground polygons have been removed to further optimize performance. Additionally, the project has been compiled with the Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 SDK.

Known Issues:

In Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024, the emissive (night) textures appear very dark. This is a known issue that is reportedly being addressed with Sim Update 1.
