Leonardo Software House (LSH) has launched an open beta program for the MD-82 variant of Fly the Maddog X in Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024. The beta is available at no cost to existing MSFS2020 customers.
LSH, which exclusively distributes its products through simMarket, has designated this release as experimental due to current SDK limitations and simulator maturity.
The beta release currently faces several technical limitations. MSFS2024 does not properly recognize aircraft registrations stored in configuration files, requiring users to manually set registrations either through the simulator’s interface or by modifying the maddogx.ini file. Pilot and copilot avatars are not displaying correctly, and while MSFS2020 liveries are compatible, their thumbnails are not visible in the aircraft selection menu except for default liveries. The Quick Guide documentation has not yet been updated for MSFS2024.
While the MD-82 is currently the only variant available for MSFS2024, existing MSFS2020 liveries remain compatible with the new platform. The development team has established a dedicated forum for user feedback and will monitor support tickets to improve the product.

For reference, LSH’s current product lineup on simMarket includes the MSFS2020 version, the MD-83/88 expansion, and various Prepar3D editions. Pricing for the eventual MSFS2024 release has not been announced.
Users interested in participating in the beta program can access the installer through the official Fly the Maddog X forums with valid credentials.
