SimWorks Studios has announced the release of the Van’s RV-8/8A for Microsoft Flight Simulator, scheduled for August 1st. The release will feature both taildragger and tricycle variants, meticulously refined using 3D scanning technology. The package includes seven custom liveries and a white template, offering 2 and 3-bladed propeller options with sounds recorded from real RV-8s. The flight model is based on recorded data from a tester’s RV-8, ensuring high fidelity. Simmers can choose between analogue and G3X cockpits, with the analogue variant supporting GTN compatibility and hot-swapping (PC only). Additionally, the package includes a user-friendly aerobatic smoke effect developed by //42.
To further enhance the user experience, a comprehensive paintkit is available for free under the extras tab on the SimWorks Studios website. The paintkit comes in PSD, Blender, and Substance formats, allowing users to preview airframes within the simulator. The Van’s RV-8/8A will be available for purchase on August 1st for 14.99€, with distribution through both SimWorks Studios and SIMMARKET. This release aims to cater to all types of simmers, developed with input from the factory and real RV-8 pilots to ensure an authentic simulation experience.
