SimWorks Studios and iniBuilds have announced their collaboration on the iniBuilds T-33 Jet Trainer for Microsoft Flight Simulator. This project celebrates the T-33, an iconic turbojet training aircraft initially developed in 1945 as the P-80 Shooting Star and later re-designated as the T-33. The aircraft, known for its versatility and historical significance, was used in various roles from initial jet training to combat during the Korean conflict.
The collaboration involved SimWorks Studios handling the systems modelling and flight model elements, while iniBuilds Premier Aircraft team focused on other aspects of the development. The result is a meticulously crafted aircraft with highly detailed textures and accurate simulations of the T-33’s systems. The virtual cockpit is fully interactive, offering enthusiasts an immersive experience that mirrors the real-world jet’s handling and avionics.
Gregory ‘Wired’ Colyer of AceMaker Aviation, the most experienced T-33 pilot, played a crucial role in the project by providing extensive feedback based on his over 3000 hours of flight time in the aircraft. His insights were key to ensuring the aircraft’s performance and behavior in the simulator are true to life. The announcement also includes a trailer and an extended video featuring Colyer at Yolo County Airport, highlighting the collaboration and showcasing the real T-33.
