Airport Overview

LETL Teruel Airport, which is not your typical commercial traffic airport, has been crafted by
FSDG Scenery. Known as Europe’s Aircraft Boneyard beckons virtual aviators to explore Spain’s
eastern coast city of Teruel, which is located east of the Capital City, Madrid. The Airport is very
well known for its long-term storage facilities, which was at its high during the COVID-19
pandemic storing the heavy airliners such as the A380 and the 747 which halted their operations
during that period. With No regular scheduled passenger flights, the airport usually sees some
training flights that pass by occasionally.

Airport Features

FSDG Scenery has painstakingly recreated Teruel Airport with attention to detail, offering a
comprehensive depiction of this critical yet simple airport design. The scenery encompasses not
only the airport itself but also its surrounding environment, providing a realistic backdrop for
virtual pilots. Custom 3D models and textures bring the terminal buildings and infrastructure to
life, while ground equipment and clutter add to the authenticity of the experience. Dynamic
lighting enhances the atmosphere, especially during night operations, contributing to the overall
immersion of the simulation.

Modeling and Texturing

Upon closer examination, the terminal buildings and apron exhibit impressive detailing, though
some textures may lack the sharpness expected in higher quality addons. Nonetheless, the
modeling is precise, capturing the essence of what Teruel Airport with accuracy. Ground
markings, runway textures, and surrounding terrain are all well represented using high quality
textures which is a contributing factor to a visually satisfying experience for users while using
shadow baked textures. The photoreal coverage area extends only to the airport boundaries
which could classify this airport as a Lite scenery but having an addon such as ORBX terrain
definitely enriches the simulation environment and adding to the sense of realism especially
with the blend and use of product such as Open Global LC.

Final Feedback

In conclusion, LETL Teruel Airport by FSDG Scenery is a commendable addition to the P3D
scenery library – which is great news that FSDG is still supporting P3D development. This offers
virtual aviators the opportunity to explore a different type of airport, recreating a different type
of operation to such an interesting location which has quite definitely a Roswell or Victorville
type operation located in Spain mountainous desert region of Aragon.
All in all, the developers have succeeded in capturing the essence of Teruel Airport, delivering a
visually appealing and immersive experience for flight simulation enthusiasts, the overall quality
of the addon is impressive. I eagerly anticipate future updates and additions from FSDG Scenery.
I am especially looking forward to Male Airport which is due to arrive in 2024. Well done to the
FSDG team!
