Four flight simulation developer studios have come together to host a Christmas raffle that aims to raise up to €100,000 for UNICEF. Hues by Horizon Simulations, FlyByWire Simulations, Headwind Simulations and Qbit Simulations are inviting the Flight Sim community to make the Christmas Miracle happen from December 15th to 31st.
Participants can purchase raffle tickets starting at €1 each to enter to win simMarket gift cards. All proceeds from the raffle will go towards the joint fundraising goal for UNICEF. The developers have outlined six milestone goals that, if reached, will trigger the awarding of more gift card prizes to randomly selected raffle winners. The ultimate goal is to raise €100,000, which would see 200 winners receive €50 simMarket gift cards each.
In addition to supporting an important cause, raffle participants will also receive a special Christmas-themed livery package for various aircraft like the Airbus A320neo and Boeing 787-9 that can be used in flight simulators. This offers both an incentive to participate as well as a thank you gift from the developer teams.
The organizers are hoping to spread holiday cheer through the fundraising effort. If successful, it would mark a significant contribution from the flight sim community towards UNICEF’s efforts assisting children worldwide. Transparency and privacy protections are in place for the random winner selection process scheduled for January 6th.
With just over two weeks remaining, the developers are encouraging the flight sim community to join them in contributing to the raffle tiers. Even small donations can mean extra raffle entries and move the fundraiser closer to its ambitious €10,000 goal. It remains to be seen if their “Christmas Miracle” aim can be achieved with the support from simulation fans.
