As it says in the video above, developers HiFi Tech refer to their latest release, Active Sky Next, as being “a weather revolution“. In development for three years, the package brings with it an entirely new depiction method, less complex setup and controls, plus a whole host of new features.
Numbered amongst the new features are an “integrated accurate weather radar”, “synchronized cloud-based ambient weather effects” as well as significant changes to thunderstorm presentation, Airmet/Sigmet simulation and voice weather briefings. To find out more, visit the product pages at simMarket; here for new users, or here, as an upgrade with a sizeable discount, for existing users of recent Active Sky products. A demo is available on the product pages and it is worth noting that the package is currently only compatible with MS FSX (SP2 or Acceleration).
To co-incide with the release of ASN, its predecessor, Active Sky 2012, is reduced in price by 1/3. As the product page states, “AS2012 is continuing to be offered at a reduced price for those looking for an integrated graphics/weather solution, or as a graphics solution to be used with ASN.”
