The Avions Robin DR400 series has been a mainstay of the GA fleet, particularly in France, for many years – dating back indeed to the 1970s, when the design was developed from Jodel aircraft, which give the DR400 its distinctive wingshape. Unlike many of its peers, the DR400 series remains in production today, with very few design changes.
The model recreated here by Lionheart Creations for FSX and P3D is the 180hp DR400-180 variant, also known as the “Dauphin 80” or “Regent”, which is the highest powered and best equipped of the range, designed for four-seat touring. As such, it comes with a full IFR fit and a Garmin GNS430 GPS system, all of which has been recreated in 3d by the developers using ‘soft glow’ backlighting to avoid the need to use the dome light for gauge visibility when flying at night.
