In the real world, Controlled Flight Into Terrain (CFIT) is still one of the most common causes of fatal air crashes around the planet, particularly at night or when flying in IMC (Instrument Meteorological Conditions).
TAWS, to throw another acroynm into the mix, stands for “Terrain Awareness and Warning System” and gives pilots an overview of the ground around (and preferably well below!) the aircraft, also providing visual and audio warnings if the aircraft is heading into danger.
Available now from simMarket by clicking here, DBS Studios have released a TAWS system for Microsoft FSX. The add-on can be installed either as a standalone pop-up, or integrated into a suitable panel with some text file editing.
