Venue: Saturday, October 3rd at Shoreham Airport. It’s not too late to register for the Flight1 Open Day, and now we have even more reasons for you to come along in the form of a goody bag and a visit from “Marinell” — a beautifully restored WWII P51 Mustang. Full details can be found at the Flight1 Open Day webpage, with the latest highlights below.
See you next week!
The Flight1 Crew
FREE STUFF FOR EVERYONE!
We think someone has been slipping something more than milk into our cups of tea in the Brighton office, as we’ve lined up a brilliant welcome present for everyone who registers and turns up on the day — we won’t spoil the surprise, but it will be an award winning product worth £29.99 that we hope will provide you with many hours of fun whether you fly in FS2004 or FSX.
PC Pilot Magazine are attending and also have a special gift for visitors too planned!
AIRCRAFT ON STAND
We’re delighted to provide the following official line-up of aircraft on the day. Naturally we hope the weather and operational and technical requirements will not mean any disappointments!
We also have a variety of visitors flying in so, together with the usual busy activity at Shoreham, everyone should be able to get their fix of live aviation on the day!
P51D Mustang —‘Marinell’
Shortly to be yours to fly in Flight Simulator X, we are very honoured that owner Maurice Hammond will be flying the beautifully-restored Mustang in for the day from its base at Hardwick in Norfolk.
Marinell is a true WWII combat aircraft, that flew with the 339th Fighter Group out of Fowlmere, Cambridgeshire in 1944. Sadly, it was shot down over France after only 45 days in service. Maurice acquired the wreckage in 1998 and a painstaking restoration finally saw her fly again in the summer of last year.
Maurice will be attending with his daughter Leah, and raising money for a very deserving charity, with raffle tickets and calendars for sale on the day. We hope you will be able to give them your full support and a warm welcome.
Pilatus PC12 Aircraft
We’re very pleased to be able to announce that with the kind co-operation of Pilatus and the aircraft’s owner, we will have a PC12 (G-INTO) aircraft on static display, along with a company pilot. So we hope to be able to offer walk-rounds and you can ask any questions you might have about flying this fabulous business-class turboprop.
Cirrus / Avidyne
Together with local pilots and with the kind help of Cirrus we will have the latest Cirrus aircraft and experienced Avidyne-users on hand to talk through the aircraft and the Avidyne systems. Great if you want to talk to experts about any aspects of glass-cockpit flying in light aircraft.
Extra 300L
One of our staff members seems to enjoy spending his flying hours upside down in this aircraft, which is immortalised in Flight Simulator and types of which are used in the Red Bull Air Races.
We will have the aircraft on stand (the right way up we hope). Experienced Flight Instructor and aerobatic display pilot Justyn Gorman will be on hand to talk to you about the aircraft and any aspect of flying.
