Tags: simFlight network, simMarket  (No Ratings Yet) Loading ...Some may have trouble reaching www.simmarket.com and the simFlight sites today. The problem is actually fixed but it takes some time for the new IP settings to be propagated around the world. What happened?: Last week we started to move simMarket to shiny new servers (quad core, 4GB Ram… all the nice things) and we wanted to work in the background without any disruption of services, we did not want it to be noticeable to the customers. We managed to actually switch one server like this already 10 days ago and are in the process of moving the second one right now. And this is when the trouble started. Read the rest of this entry » |

Hi friends, Miguel has kindly invited me to join the team as a writer. Those of you that don’t know me, I write the Round Robin adventures. Mainly VOR/NDB and approach procedures. Started doing the Round Robins in the early 1990’s on bulleting boards (before the Internet) and it, kind of, took off from there. I am not so sure as to what direction I will take with this “news” like reporting. I do reviews on new products (scenery, airplanes etc..) and maybe I can channel my thoughts in that direction. |

Sometimes one realizes that the time has come to not listen to just everyone and one should just do his thing! One recent example is our poll asking our users how they like the new site… 28% think it is ‘Bad’, see the full results: [poll id="1"] Of course we are happy to know that most of you like it, 47% think it is good or even excellent and 22% belong to the diplomatic front saying that ‘it can be improved’… of course.. we know, we will always keep improving it! promised! |

After a nightmare of night and morning fighting against a non willing host, servers and databases, we managed to get back on track without loosing the database…. After becoming unable to reach and manage the site via we had to move to new host and server, back up the mysql database from faulty server, change it manually and enter each table manually into the new database on the new serrver.. something you do not want to spend your regular day doing! After the new IP’s for the simflight domain stabilize we should be 100% back! uuuuuuuffff. |
