On its web site we can read that “…… CubCrafters is pleased to announce that the CC18-180 TOP CUB has received Type Certification from the Civil Aviation Safety Authority.  This certification allows new, certified, ready-to-fly Cubs to be delivered to customers in Australia for the first time ever.  The CC18-180 was certified in the US in Dec. 2004, and has now been approved on floats and wheels in Canada and Australia as well…..”. A really nice little model of it for FS2004 and FSX can be found in the FSAddon stable and on simMarket.

After the minuscule uproar following the new Aerosoft Flightplanner release last week, here’s something to play with if you do NOT want to spend a dime … or a cent, for that matter. Nav Monster is a web-based flightplanner (for the US) and has all sorts of nifty links to useful information when setting up a flight. I don’t plan much but if I would, this thing really looks like a useful tool to have. Check it out here!

I was a subscriber to Scramble, the ’spotters magazine’, way back in the eighties. And it still exists ! What’s more, they now have an English version AND you can find them on the Internet, see here. Scramble has a wealth of information for aircraft spotters, but they also provide a lot of other aviation info, now straight from their databases and accessible via your browser. Not the worst 40 Euros you may spend if you’re an aviation buff !!

As usual when FS news is ’slow’ there is plenty of real-world aviation news around for you to enjoy. Here’s a worthy organization aiming to keep old-timers flying. Yak’s in this particular case ! I am talking about the Yakkes Foundation who restore, maintain and fly old Russian Yak’s ! Pay their web site a visit and awe at some of the great pictures in their image gallery. And maybe lend them a (financial) hand at keeping the Yak’s flying?

A well-known song from Sesame Street. So what have Patty Wagstaff, Pamela Anderson and Paris Hilton in common? They’re all women, yes. They are also ‘celebrities’, at least to some people’s standards. And hence they all are watched hawkishly. So when Patty mistakenly took a wrong turn getting her on the Oskosh runway in her CAR, that was NEWS! Maybe she’ll be a bit less of an aviation icon after this? Read all about it on AVweb here.

Paul Lange, one of the FS experts at Microsoft, was one of the lucky people to be taken along in a real Fieseler Storch some time ago. Paul flew the Storch at Fantasy of Flight in Polk City, Florida. The same one that I personally put ‘on digital’ in November last year. You can read more about it and see the video on Paul’s Blog !
