After Aerosoft threatening to build a whole new simulator, now Sim Giants from Israel also has plans apparently. Typing the news item I can already see the comments coming, but hey, news is news.

Dvir Cohen Julius of Sim Giants writes that “…. I am happy to announce that Sim Giants will develop a flight simulator game. We started to develop the simulator and it will be ready late 2011 (yes, it’s far) but I thought it will be nice to announce this fantastic release to your web site for the simmers community….”. The folks at Exciting Simulations, producing and publishing Space Shuttle Mission 2007 report the release of a new Free Features Pack v5.10 and new manuals. “…. The new Commander’s Reference Manual and Quick Start Manual contain all the changes, new missions and features up to, and including Features Pack 5.10….”. Neoqb, the developers of WW1 combat sim Rise of Flight, have put out yet a new aircraft for it, the Fokker D.VIII. “….. WW1 This is the first monoplane fighter presented in the simulator. It was even more maneuverable than the legendary Fokker D.VII. Pilots called it “The Flying Razor” due to its characteristic construction. It was both easy to fly and responsive to the controls. Pilots also noted the aircraft’s excellent climb performance and all-round cockpit view. Another interesting feature: machinegun ammo counters mounted in the cockpit….”. Ian Thatcher of FS-Shipyards.org reports that “….. after spending 3 weeks in Dry-dock for a well earned overhaul and Sea Trials we are pleased to let everyone know that after a complete overhaul FS-Shipyards.ORG is now sailing smoothly once again. Neoqb reports that they have released Update 1.010 for Rise of Flight: The First Great Air War. Update 1.010 will bring a certain amount of game improvements  and fixes. More detailed information can be found in attached list of changes or at the game forum. Exciting Simulations has released “…. the new free, surprise Christmas Mission Pack for the Space Shuttle Mission 2007 simulator: the Ares I-X Test Launch.
The Ares I-X Test Launch mission contains real NASA comms from one hour before liftoff, until 10 minutes after liftoff. It shows all the events from liftoff, during flight, SEP, and splashdown, including the failed deployment of the third chute. The mission slide-shows between the various fixed observer KSC cameras, providing an experience similar to watching NASATV, but with the added advantage of being able to zoom in and follow Ares I-X during all the mission phases…..”.

WW2 Expansions Simulators released two new boxes with expansions for the famous IL-2 Sturmovik simulator from Russia. Available now are ‘Norway’ and  ‘Stalingrad’, each at 14,95 Euros without VAT. Prerequisite is to have IL-2 of course, since these are only add-ons. Get them at simMarket today.

Ernesto Gomez Ruiz builds expansion packs for the IL-2 combat simulator. His latest is Iwo Jima and Okinawa 1945. “…. This expansion recreates the battles fought between the American and Japanese troops in 1945. Included are 1 USN campaigns, 1  USMC campaign, 82 campaigns missions, 186 singles/cooperative missions USN/USMC. A total of  268 missions…”. IL-2 Sturmovik is a prerequisite! The makers of Airpro, based in Hamburg, Germany, report that they have published a new version of the airline management game. In ‘Airpro 7′ the player has the task to set up and run an airline and make it grow. New additions in the current release are a new load calculation and an aircraft editor. The new Mini-Pack contains specific enhancements to assist with the ISS docking, such as the PMA ACSMI LEDs correctly reflect the ISS Attitude Control mode, the crew now provides distance and guidance callouts during docking and more improvements to the ISS 3D model. News for Rise of Flight fans: Neoqb released update 1.008 for Rise of Flight: The First Great Air War. “….. Update 1.008 will bring two new planes in the store (Fokker Dr.I and Sopwith Camel) and will add new summer textures to the game. It will also fix the AI of pilots who sometimes “got out of hand” with their marksmanship skills and it should increase game performance on some systems as well…..”. Exciting Simulations report that they have “…..   released a new free demo for the Space Shuttle Mission 2007 simulator. As before, the demo still contains only the STS-1 mission without time limits, but now it includes all the cool performance, optimization, graphics and functional improvements added to the simulator ever since it has been released. The demo now better reflects the current status of the sim.

VSTEP, the Ship Simulator publisher, reports that “…… the Prime Minster of the Netherlands, Jan Peter Balkenende, successfully opened Europort 2009, the second largest maritime exhibition in the world. During a highly attended opening ceremony, Prime Minister Balkenende sailed through the virtual Port of Rotterdam with VSTEP’s maritime simulator ‘Ship Simulator Professional’.
