X-Plane 9 Is Here For iPhone

Austin Meyers, the developer of X-plane, reports “…….  X-Plane is now here for the iPhone, and it is FUN! The iPhone is not QUITE as powerful as a Quad-Core desktop, so I had to really scale it down to a perfect little ’slice’ of X-Plane. You can choose from the Cirrus Jet, Columbia-400, Cessna 182, and Piaggo Avanti, with flight physics that are about 95% as accurate as X-Plane for desktop, so the flight modeling is really just amazing for a little device of this size…. really just stunning……”.

Navigraph reports “………New and existing users are invited to download the new batch of updated aeronautical charts distributed by Navigraph via the nDAC software. Notably, enroute chart coverage has now been added for Australia, and North America is also fully covered after adding new 20 enroute charts to the database. Furthermore, almost 400 airport charts have been added, bringing the total number to 23,667 distributed over 1,211 airports worldwide……”.

OrbX Releases Free Demo FTX AU BLUE

Orbx has today released a free demo version of its acclaimed FTX AU BLUE terrain addon, covering the entire state of Tasmania in Australia’s south. This area covers 16,000 square kilometres (larger than Northern Ireland) and is fully functional without any time limits, so anyone can explore this picturesque island at their leisure. The season is locked to spring only, but everything else including the 3D lights, coastlines, traffic, roads, rivers, vertical obstruction - all the FTX features are completely activated so you can experience it for yourself. Paderborn-Lippstadt Under Construction

What? Never heard of it? EDLP (Paderborn-Lippstadt) is the home base of Aerosoft GmbH, AND the venue of their yearly Flightsimmer’s Conference. And now the release of a dedciated FSX version of the regional airport is near (couple weeks?). You can find some preview screenshots on the Aerosoft Forum. And you can see it FOR REAL during this year’s conference on October 25th !

FSAddon’s Plum Island for FSX Released

FSAddon Publishing announces the release of a new add-on for Flight Simulator X called Plum Island. It is the first of a new series of very highly detailed small sceneries designed by Bill Womack. The series is called ‘100 Dollar Burger’, with a wink to an existing real-life chain of small airfield articles. The Alphasim SH-2 Seasprite

Today AlphaSim anounced the release of their latest product, The Kaman SH-2 Seasprite helicopter. Both versions of Kaman’s utility helicopter (the F and G) feature in this extensive package for FSX (with optional FS2004 version). The 6 phenonomal texture sets show amazing attention to detail and are enhanced further by FSX’s bump mapping and self-shadowing features. Both the New Zealand and Australian models carry a superbly-detailed M60 machine gun AGM-65 Mavericks and a FLIR turret.

UK Software Pirate Put Away

Good Riddens! Gary Boulter, 51, of 15 Knapp Road, Thornbury in the UK was sentenced to 15 months in prison after having been found guilty to a total of 23 offenses of illegally copying for sale games, counterfeit films, music and pornography on CD’s. Police found source files worth some 50.000 British pounds. People like this are hurting the entertainment industry, and especially the games industry, more than many can imagine. (SOLVED) simMarket & simFlight hick ups due to IP changes!

Some may have trouble reaching www.simmarket.com and the simFlight sites today. The problem is actually fixed but it takes some time for the new IP settings to be propagated around the world.

What happened?: Last week we started to move simMarket to shiny new servers (quad core, 4GB Ram… all the nice things)  and we wanted to work in the background without any disruption of services, we did not want it to be noticeable to the customers. We managed to actually switch one server like this already 10 days ago and are in the process of moving the second one right now. And this is when the trouble started.
