X-Aviation is proud to announce that the CRJ-200 project announced months ago is now on it’s final approach to the public domain. As we gear closer more videos will be produced, but for now we’d like to start out the series showcasing our lighting and a cold and dark look at the ramp as it is in X-Plane. As you’ll note, the systems programming is coming along nicely (seen by the displays and FMC), and we’re excited to be able to show this to the world! New (navigational) data is now available for X-Plane. This is data cycle 2009.12 valid from 19 November 2009 to 17 December 2009. This data release includes very highly detailed airports at KORD (Chicago O’Hare), VTSP (Phuket) and LFLL (Lyon). It also includes many new airports in northern Germany, Norway, and many other global changes. As usual, North American fixes, NDBs and VORs have been updated from the US FAA National Flight Database (NFD). An error whereby many American NDBs were accidentally deleted in an earlier data release has been fixed…..”. He calls it ‘X-plane REMOTE’ and writes “…… X-Plane REMOTE is a cool little app for you iphone that lets your iphone act as a joystick for x-plane! it also acts as an external cockpit, and a moving map!

With x-plane remote, you can simply establish a wireless connection between your computer and your iphone (if you computer has an airport, you do not even need a LAN! the iphone can connect right to your computer wirelessly via airport!) to use your iphone as a joystick or external panel……”.
“…. This gets pretty interesting, because it lets you run x-plane on a laptop away from the office, and still have a joystick when you are traveling.. . in the form of your iphone! It lets you run x-plane in full-screen-ho-hud mode, perhaps on a huge flat-screen TV for a huge visual… while controlling the sim from your couch by tiling the phone! AND, at the SAME TIME, seeing an external cockpit or moving map on your iphone (or ipodtouch, of course) as well. If you simply want to run x-plane in full-screen mode on your computer, perhaps using a joystick to fly, you can simply use the external-panel option on your phone to have an external instrument panel for navigation, while using the FULL monitor for out-the-window visuals.
OR just use x-plane remote as an external moving map! if you have an iphone and x-plane, this is just too cool an app to not have.

The app is priced somewhere between the value of used gum-wrappers and old pocket-lint, same as always, so if you have the slightest
inclination to try it out, there is no reason not to! More info here. ….”.

Mark Verschaeren of Flight Illusions in Belgium reports “…… Great news for cockpit builders using X-plane as their simulator program. Flight illusion is releasing an X-Plane compatible version of their interface, allowing all the FI gauges to be connected and tweaked. There is even better news for X-plane pilots. Compared to MS-FS the advantage is that no extra “in between” like FSUIPC is needed. Hence it is possible to update the information at almost 50 times per second (FS has a 10/second update rate). This results in even smoother gauge movement…..”.

“…… The new software is X-Plane 8 and 9 compatibility. We are now making sure to get as many indexes in as possible (equal to offsets in Flight Simulator)
Another advantage over the FS version is that all the gauges as well as the engine cluster are embedded in the program. No need to run 2 separate programs. Flight illusion invites X-Plane users to download the interface and take a look at how it’s functioning, even if they don’t have gauges. That’ll show you how easy the software works.
Meanwhile, Austin Meyer, the creator of X-Plane is continuing to work on an embedded interface that connects from within X-Plane. We’ll inform you about his progress in the future……”.

X-Planner is a flight-planner that runs no your iPhone or iPodTouch. Here is how it works: You enter the performance parameters of your airplane one time (takes maybe 15 minutes?) Then, after that, you just enter the departure and destination for wherever you are flying, and the winds aloft…..”.

“….. X-Planner will then show you your weight and center of gravity with the take-off fuel on board and weight and gravity at zero-fuel as a red line across the weight and balance envelope, so you can see if you will be within weight and balance for the entire flight! Finally, seeing if you are within weight and balance is easy and even kind of fun!

Then, X-Planner will show you the time enroute and fuel burn for each altitude, so you can see how much fuel to put on board and how long the flight will be, and also know WHAT ALTITUDE IS THE MOST EFFICIENT
ALTITUDE TO FLY!!!

I am only charging $9.99 for this, so it will pay for itself in fuel savings in the first flight if it saves you even 2 gallons, which I am sure it will.

So, any pilot with an iPhone or iPod touch should get this for sure.. it makes doing the weight and balance FUN, and shows you the BEST altitude to fly, and tells you exactly how much fuel to ask for before flight.

Pilots that do much flying and do NOT have an iPhone might consider an iPodTouch for this application… it costs $229 at apple.com, which is NOT exactly cheap, but depending on how much flying you do, you could
easily save $229 of fuel over time by knowing what altitude and power settings to use on each flight, based on he exact parameters of your airplane and the current winds (which you enter for each flight)……”.
