These developments are impressive, but one important thing is missing:

can you fly like professional airline pilots do? Do you always know where you are? Can you fly exactly the same routes they do? How can you pinpoint an intersection or fly a real great circle route? Many more things come to mind.

The Flight Management System for FS5 adds that important touch to your flight simulation experience! Your entire trip can be under control using this software, from take-off to touch-down.

How about leaving from Los Angeles International in the evening, going to sleep and touching down in Sydney the next morning just before breakfast? How about an autothrottle? Would you like your route being displayed graphically and updated while you fly?

All you need is a second computer (a 286 or higher will be sufficient), and either a serial cable or a local area network using IPX. The FMS connects to your Flight Simulator and reads all necessary data. The amount of information is so big that it couldn't all be done using one PC!

Some of the features offered to you by the Flight Management System:

• Autopilot link to a route with as many waypoints (VORs, NDBs, intersections) as you want (L-NAV)

• A powerful database generator, if you have a given scenery, you have its data for use with the FMS

• Route file selection and easy editing of waypoints (you can use SIDs and STARs)

• Plan View

• Automatic routing to your destination

• Automatic and manual display of your nearest airport or navaid

• Graphic route and map display in 3 different modes (VGA only)

• Virtual ILS (available for any runway) and other backup instruments

• 

• Wind correction

• Course lock

• Automatic hold patterns

• Automatic TOD (top of descent) calculation

• Auto-Approach with or without an ILS-equipped runway at your disposal

• Selection of destination airport and runway

• Display of airport runway layout

• Plotting of your flight to disk

Only in the IPX version (can only be used via a network):

• The first autothrottle available for FS5!

• Full Autoland including automatic flare and thrust reversion (up to 25 knots of cross-winds can be handled)

• Remote setting of Navaid and COM frequencies

• Ability to monitor fuelflow and weather

The FS5 Flight Management System is now available.

Please check fmsdemo2.zip for a working demo of this program, allowing you to evaluate all features within a pre-defined area. It also includes a test mode to try out the program without connecting it to FS5.

Regular upgrades and updates will be made available to all users.

An ATP version will be released soon as well.

The price is fixed at 80 DM (German Marks), currently about 55 US$. MC, VISA and DC are accepted.
