International FS Consortium Formed

ifsconsortiumIn a meeting today in Amsterdam, the Netherlands, a new organization was formed to be an advocate of flight simulation, the community and organizations in support of our hobby – The International Flight Simulation Consortium. Attended by some 25 developers, community members and publishers, the nascent organization has created an interim board of directors. The IFSC has been launched with the intent to represent and promote our hobby world-wide. We will be publishing more news in the coming weeks on the goals and membership requirements of IFSC.

  1. Already impressed by some that I saw at Devcom and see in the picture Francois!

  2. Not the most energized-looking lot on the planet, are they? 😉

Keep us informed as things progress, Francois. Sounds like a good beginning.

  3. Congratulations all. Together you can be greater than the sum of the parts and make the community grow.

  4. LOL, I guess Hans had a tough day 😉 Some of us got up at 2:30 am to be able to join. Quite a few traveled all the way from the US, we had people from Moscow and Kiev and from Mexico even!

It’s a start and we’re hoping to make a difference in the future or FS.

  5. No, it wasn’t a tough day for me. It looks like I’m about to fall asleep on the photo but it was much less boring than the meetings I usually attend in my job. The only really bad thing was the traffic situation between Apeldoorn and Schiphol in the morning…
Anyway, it was nice to meet everybody again (and a few people for the first time) 🙂

  6. Hey guys… even though I am not a developer but ‘just an admin here, there and everywhere’ can I join you?

  7. Hi Jay, more details will be released in a few weeks. We have a preliminary board drawing up more detailed ‘rules’…. like how much the membership fee will be, what qualifications members need to have, boring stuff like that. 😉

  8. much time to loose…and always trying to give some importance to themselves….result will be zero, it’s fun that you call this an hobby…it is only a method to earn money because you are worried to loose your job when the fsx end

  9. Okay, excellent Francois, looking forward to it, anything for the hobby, if we all pull together we could do something grand I reckon

  10. Thanks FSFlyers, you are right of course. We should be totally ashamed for wanting to support our families by working and earning money. I’ll pass on the message and urge all publishers, developers, advertising agencies, magazine writers and the likes to quit their jobs and apply for social welfare….. so we can live of YOUR tax money.

    I like your thinking, bud…… LOL !!!!

  11. As a person who attended Aviation High School, who watched the space programs, who as a child hung around Jules Bergman of ABC TV, who received John Glenn autograph on a menu, who washed seaplanes at City Island NY to earn a flight and who wanted to fly but for medical reasons could not in those days, who teaches at a rough time at an elementary school and opens up students eyes through the use of flight simulation or any simulation product and helps relief the daily stress, as a designer who is in process of developing scenery. DAMM RIGHT I love my hobby and WILL PAY for it! Get them Francois!

  12. Couldn’t agree more Paul & Francois..well said !
This is an excellent development. Hopefully they (we) will be able to carry this on for many years yet.
