Aerosoft has released its VFR London. “……. Designed to enhance Microsoft Flight Simulator X, VFR London is a highly detailed 3D model of the city of London. Having been build using an aerial photographic template, it is an accurate and faithful representation of the London City area as it is today…..”.
“……If you want to bring that extra level of realism to your simulation experience, VFR London should, without doubt, be top of the list of FSX add-ons. This scenery will impress like no other before!

Sitting on a new, ultra-high-resolution (60cm) layer of aerial photographic scenery, VFR London is comprised of over 30,000 building objects and 50,000 ‘fill objects’ (trees, cranes, boats etc) - including everything from monumental landmarks and skyscrapers to individual homes. Covering over 120km2, every object greater than 27m3 has been modeled to within 3m of its actual footprint, and individually hand textured to accurately reflect the real building by day, and by night……”.

Looks amazing! However I’ll wait with getting this until London City Airport is done. They could have waited with the release for that airport to complete…

The screenshots don’t really do it justice - I was blown away by this demo video on the developer’s website:

The line between sim and reality has been blurred some more imho.

  3. Just as a hint of a warning, it looks like it’s worth doing some research here more than ever - I’ve read threads around the internet questioning its compatibility with DX10 and telling some horror stories with frame rates. Definitely looks like one to ensure you can run it before parting with money although it looks fabulous from the screenshots and videos I’ve seen.

  4. I agree with Ian P. You need to turn off DX10 Preview as you’ll have scenery issues and you’ll have to set up a FSX.cfg made just for running this scenery. Excellent suggestions for setting up a FSX.cfg in the manual. The scenery is nothing short of spectacular.
