Jose Pena of PRE-Flight’s RC Simulator announced yet another add-on plane for his sim, the Boeiing B-29 Superfortress. “…… Called “The Plane that Won the War”, the Boeing B-29 Superfortress was one of the most advanced bombers of its time – featuring innovations like remote-controlled gun turrets and a fully pressurized cabin. So advanced was its design that it was used long after its first flight in 1942 – it was only retired from service in the 1960s. It was also copied down to the rivets by the Soviet Union and called the Tupolev Tu-4….”.
“….. The most famous of the 3,970 B-29s that were built is the “Enola Gay”, the bomber that delivered the first atomic bomb on August 6, 1945, forever changing the face of warfare.
Long after World War II, the B-29 saw service in the Korean conflict and was used in various duties like in-flight refueling, exprimental aircraft testing, and even as a a flying relay television transmitter (because of its high-altitude capability).
This super scale PRE-Flight model of the B-29 is composed of over 107,000 polygons, and has full moveable control surfaces, retractable landing gear, revolving gun turrets (controlled by the rudder channel), detailed interior visible in the aircraft views, and special reflective paint and markings of “Enola Gay”.
